Overseas Filipinos who want to register as local voters in the May 2020 national and local polls need to transfer their registration records, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday.
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said to do this, they need to go to the Office of Election Officer (OEO), where they intend to vote, and file their application for transfer of registration records.
He said applicants need to secure two forms, the request for transfer and application for registration (OVF No. 1-B), which can be downloaded from the poll body's website or availed of at the city/municipal OEOs.
"It's very important to disclose to the election officer that you are a former overseas voter so that they can give you the correct forms and have them processed immediately," said Jimenez during the Laging Handa press briefing Monday.
In Resolution No. 10677, the Comelec said applications for transfer of registration records from overseas posts to the Philippines is from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021.
Earlier this month, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said they have repatriated 205,000 OFWs since May.
He said he won't be surprised if they will repatriate 100,000 more amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bello added that based on their record the number of OFWs they repatriate on a daily basis is a minimum of 1,000 and a maximum of 3,000.
