Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi today ordered the Alabang Country Club (ACC) inside the posh Ayala Alabang Village to stop the operations of its golf course after a tournament was held on August 29 in violation of safety and health protocols.
In a letter, Fresnedi told ACC general manager Carla Maramara that the suspension of the operations of the golf course was recommended by Interior Sec. Eduardo Año after the Philippine National Police investigated the incident.
“Given the above, and finding probable cause that there was indeed violation of safety and health protocols warranting the suspension of the business permit issued in your favor, the City Government of Muntinlupa hereby orders you to immediately stop the operations of the golf course,” Fresnedi said.
Along with the letter, the Muntinlupa Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), assisted by the police, issued a cease and desist order to the Alabang Country Club pending “the conclusion of the investigation being conducted on the matter.”
Sec. Año wrote a letter to Fresnedi on September 25 to say that based on the PNP investigation, “there was a violation of health and social distancing protocols, and the IATF guidelines.”
Pending investigation, he told the mayor that “it is the recommendation of this level that your office cause the temporary suspension of the operations of the golf course in order to prevent, and deter similar violations that may be further incurred by it, or by any other business establishment in your area of jurisdiction.”
Besides the golf course, the Alabang Country Club has facilities for archery, bowling, gym, dance studio, swimming pool, badminton, tennis, and a multi-purpose field.
