San Juan LGU distributes 60,000 kilos of fish to residents

About 60,000 kilos of donated mackerel fish were distributed by the San Juan City government to residents in the city affected by the ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Mayor Francis Zamora led the distribution of the mackerel fish to all households in San Juan, saying that there are still a lot of people in need of help despite the easing of quarantine measures in Metro Manila.

President Duterte has placed the National Capital Region (NCR) under general community quarantine (GCQ) until September 30.

“Sisiguraduhin natin na maipamahagi ang mga isda na ito sa mga San Juaneño. Kahit nasa GCQ na tayo, marami pa ring nangangailangan ng tulong (We will make sure that these fish are distributed to San Juaneños. Even though we are already under GCQ, many still need help),” Zamora said.

The local government said the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) sent two 40-foot container vans containing almost 60,000 kilograms of mackerel fish for residents of San Juan.

The fish were repacked by City Hall employees and distributed to all 21 barangays in San Juan.

Last July, the San Juan City government has also received two container vans full of imported fish from the OCD, which were then distributed to indigent families in the city.

The distribution of fish was part of the city's food security program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
