Xian Lim to direct educational puppetry film series for CCP

Xian Lim proudly shared on social media his latest directorial project, Cultural Center of the Philippines’ “MALA (Movies Adapted from Literary Arts)” which forms part of “Sining Sigla,” a virtual outreach program that aims to bring the arts to the masses amid the pandemic.

On Instagram, the actor-singer-director shared how “honored and proud” he is to be part of the project.

Xian Lim's "MALA" (Movies Adapted from Literary Arts). MALA gives new life to local literary classics. It starts with reimagined versions of "Ibong Adarna" and "Florante at Laura,” as told by renowned ventriloquist Ony Carcamo and his puppet, Kulas. "Mala” opens this October. . Enjoy jazz with a special virtual music festival, "Jazz Stay At Home," featuring some of the most respected jazz artists in the country including Baihana, Nicole Asensio, Pipo and Lorna Cifra, Tots Tolentino, Michael Guevarra. The festival is hosted by Stanley Seludo. This runs from Sept. 25 to Oct.5. . A timely revisiting of Jose Corazon De Jesus' works is presented in "Pagbabalik-Tanaw sa Unang Hari ng Balagtasan," directed by Ricky Davao and starring John Arcilla, Lara Maigue, among other respected actors. Hosted by ace comedian Michael V. Pagbabalik-tanaw opens this November. . This December, a special virtual Christmas concert will be headlined by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra in “Pamaskong Handog ng PPO.” concert, will stream live on the CCP-OP Facebook page. The first two installments of the series include an adaptation of “Ibong Adarna,” which will premiere in October; and “Florante At Laura,” which will debut in November. 

Joining Xian in the project is ventriloquist Ony Carcamo, as with Aina Ramolete, renowned shadow play and puppet designer.
