BGC opens dedicated lanes for electric scooters and mobility devices

Riders of personal mobility devices now have a safe space to commute within Bonifacio Global City. The progressive district has just opened new personal mobility device (PMD) lanes along its streets for safer commuting.

These lanes have been opened up to encourage the use of PMDs like electric-assist bicycles, electric kick scooters, Segways, One-wheels, hoverboards, and other similar small electrically powered personal transport devices.

The lanes are bordered by bollards to prevent vehicles from entering these lanes and posing a danger to these environmentally-conscious commuters. Naturally, BGC reminds riders to always wear protective gear when riding these devices.

The dedicated PMD lanes are located along McKinley Parkway, 11th Avenue, 34th Street, and 8th Avenue. Meanwhile, the shared bus and bicycle lanes are along Federacion Drive, 7th Avenue, 9th Avenue, 28th Street, 30th Street, Rizal Drive, and 3rd Avenue.

PMD’s have recently become popular among some commuters because they are affordable to acquire, usually only require a regular household electrical outlet to recharge, and serve as a quick and efficient commuting option for short distances. Their wide availability has become a boon for commuters who continue to struggle with the long lines and limited capacity of public transportation.
