Sorsogon's hard-hitting commentator shot to death


A hard-hitting commentator in Sorsogon province was shot to death by riding-in-tandem suspects Monday night.

Joebert Bercasio, a native of Rapu-Rapu town in Albay province but worked as commentator in Balangibog Internet TV in Sorsogon City, was killed an hour after he posted in his Facebook account about a quarry operation in Bulan town, also in Sorsogon.

Multiple reports said Bercasio died instantly after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said Bercasio, also known for alias as “Polpog,” a resident of Bacon District in Sorsogon City, was onboard to his motorcycle en route to Seabreeze Subdivision from the city proper when the assailants fired at him, hitting him four times. He died on the spot.

The victim was a former radio announcer at DZMS-AM but transferred to the online teleradyo television where he handled commentary program.

Investigation was still ongoing as of press time.

In an earlier, spot report released by Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) at around 9 p.m., the victim was still unidentified. He was described as male person of legal age, more or less 5'6" tall, of medium built, and wearing striped T-shirt and maong pants.
