Personnel of the Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD) personally delivered the P100,000 checks to Esther Cruz of Barangay Guadalupe, Emilia Magsaysay of Barangay Poblacion, Adelaida Soria of Barangay Cembo, Natividad Yuson of Barangay Pembo, Florina Kaluag-Liboro of Bel-Air, and Manuel Carmona of Urdaneta Village.

Cruz worked as an assistant city health officer in Davao City and served in various health centers before coming to Manila.

She obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Sto. Tomas in 1946.

The Makati LGU said Cruz has been a Blu Card holder since July 4, 2011.

Since 2012, the city has recognized 70 centenarians.

City Ordinance No. 2012-099 entitles Makati senior citizens who are Blu Card holders to a one-time P100,000 cash gift upon reaching the age of 100.
