7th Customs transaction hub opens in Port of Zamboanga

Another port customer care center under the Bureau of Customs (BoC) that will help ease the processes and rid the bureau of systemic corruption has been  established at the Port of Zamboanga.

The Port of Zamboanga’s customer care center (CCC) was launched last September 10. It is the seventh one-stop shop established for all customs-related transactions.

The first six CCCs to open were in the ports of Manila, Legaspi, Surigao,  Batangas, Subic, and Clark.

The facility functions as a centralized service center that provides “ease of doing business” for stakeholders. It intends to simplify and make all services provided by the bureau accessible in one place such as document receiving and releasing, payment, document tracking, and information, among others.

It also aims to limit face to face transactions, “eventually narrowing the opportunity for corruption and illegal transactions,” District Collector Segundo Sigmundfreud Barte, Jr. said.

“Moreover, this is also a systemic transition given the impact of COVID-19 on our country. This will help the bureau adhere to health protocols, protecting our stakeholders and employees, while continuously accomplishing its mandate to protect revenue collection needed by the government amidst the pandemic,” Barte added.

During the launch, Barte said the Port of Zamboanga “will work unceasingly with utmost commitment in order to provide efficient and sensible services to its stakeholders.”

Barte led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, together with City Vice Mayor Rommel Agan and Engr. Jaydrick Yap, President of Southern Philippines Deep Sea Fishing Association Inc. (SOPHIL). They were joined by representatives from partner agencies and port employees.
