All Metro Manila mayors have agreed to close cemeteries in their respective areas of jurisdiction in Metro Manila on November 1 and 2 during the observance of All Saints and All Souls Day.
In a text message to Manila Bulletin, Metro Manila Development Authority General Manager Jose Arturo Garcia cited the Viber Group conversation of the Metro Manila mayors.
However, Garcia said the dates and guidelines have not yet been finalized.
"We have a meeting tonight at 8 for the dates and guidelines on the matter," Garcia said.
This was also confirmed by MMDA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago, saying the decision of the metro mayors was "unanimous."
The cities of Manila, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Valenzuela, Parañaque and San Juan earlier issued orders closing all private, public cemeteries including columbaries on Nov. 1 and 2.
