Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año on Sunday pointed out that the 89 barangay chairmen meted by the Ombudsman with six months preventive suspension due to alleged social amelioration program (SAP) related anomalies “are not entitled to any salary, allowance and honorarium’’.

Año stressed that the barangay captains in the preventive suspension list are “not allowed to report in the barangay office/hall’’.
Referring to the local government units (LGUs), Año noted “there is no need for any issuance of order because the resolution of the Ombudsman is already an order’’.
The DILG chief insisted that the LGUs must implement the resolution since it is mandatory.
“Failing to do so is considered as insubordination,’’ Año emphasized.
