LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – Sarrat town Mayor Remigio B. Medrano of Ilocos Norte has ordered an expanded lockdown in his town’s villages to implement more stringent restrictions to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
As of Wednesday, Ilocos Norte has recorded a total of 75 COVID -19 cases, with Sarrat having the most number of active cases with 23, followed by Laoag City and Marcos with three and two, respectively.
Meanwhile, Batac City and Piddig have each one confirmed case
In his executive order (EO), Medrano placed on lockdown Barangay 7 (San Manuel), Barangay 8 (San Antonio), Barangay 9 (San Lorenzo), and Barangay 12 (San Bernabe).
The following sitios were also placed under lockdown: Sitio Tabunya and a portion of Sitio Centro in Barangay 10 (San Miguel), Eastern Portion of Sitios 1, 2, and 3 in Barangay 11 (Sta. Rosa), Sitio 1 in Barangay 13 (San Pedro), Sitio Guidday and Sitio 4 in Barangay 16 (Sto. Santiago), Sitio 6 and 7 in Barangay 17 (San Felipe), and Sitio 5 and 6 in Barangay 18 (San Isidro).
The temporary closure was likewise extended at the Sta. Rosa Market and Municipal Slaughterhouse, and Sarrat Namnama Multi-purpose Cooperative.
Meanwhile, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc said that the other towns in Ilocos Norte that have confirmed COVID-19 cases were also ordered to lock down infected barangays to give way to contact tracing and disinfection.
With the continued expanded and targeted testing in critical and containment zones in Sarrat, almost 500 persons have been swab tested.
