“The quarantine facility which was converted from 14 units of 40-footer container vans now has fully-airconditioned four rooms, each complete with amenities, toilet, and utilities. This is expected to accommodate 56 COVID-19 patients,” Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said.

Villar added that they were able to convert the container vans into a quarantine facility in just 13 days. A total of P19.6 million was spent to finish the Camp Aguinaldo Quarantine Facility Project.

It was funded under the DPWH National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund.

On the same day, Villar also inaugurated two newly-constructed five-storey living quarters inside the Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo.

The pairs of symmetrical quarters have 88 units each with a floor area of 35 square meters and parking space at the ground floor.

It will provide a modest and comfortable home to some 176 military personnel and their families.

The living quarters were constructed under a P232.97-million fund. It was implemented with the partnership of the DPWH, Department of National Defense (DND) and AFP.

Its construction started in August 2018 with funding from DPWH’s Regular Agency Fund under the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
