14 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Davao region


DAVAO CITY -  The Department of Health (DOH) here has recorded 14 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the region, bringing the total number of recorded cases to 2,323.

Based on the Regional Situation Update on COVID-19 in Davao Region, as of 5 p.m., September 8, the region currently has 401 active cases.

The DOH said seven of the new cases were from Davao City, and seven were from Davao del Norte.


Records showed that Davao City has 214 total active cases, Davao de Oro has 66, Davao del Norte 68, Davao del Sur 31, Davao Occidental four, and Davao Oriental 18.

The region also recorded one death in Davao City on Tuesday. Davao region currently has 69 deaths, 57 of which were from Davao City.

The number of recoveries has now reached 1,853 after 20 more recoveries were recorded.The DOH said 11 recoveries were from Davao del Norte, six from Davao City, and three from Davao Oriental.

Meanwhile, three returning overseas Filipinos (ROF) were reported to have successfully recovered from the disease last Monday, September 7.

Based on the profiles of confirmed COVID-19 cases, one of the ROFs was a 36-year-old man, who resides in Barangay Mankilam in Tagum City, and came from the United States. The patient was admitted on July 9.

A 24-year-old female ROF from Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also recovered. The patient, who resides in Baganga, Davao Oriental, was admitted on August 18.

A 37-year-old female ROF from Jeddah, who was admitted last August 26, has also recovered. The patient is from Barangay Kapatagan in Digos City.
