The mayor paid a visit to the staff of Pasig City Community Kitchen at their living quarters on Sunday night to check up on them.

“Binisita ko ang quarters ng mga bayani natin mula sa community kitchen (I visited the quarters of our heroes from the community kitchen),” Sotto said on Facebook.

After Metro Manila was placed under enhanced community quarantine in March, the Pasig local government has set up the community kitchen to feed the city’s frontliners in health centers, hospitals, and checkpoints.

According to the city government, “2000 packs per meal, lunch and dinner, delivered to more than 50 different locations where the frontliners are.”

“This should make the work of frontliners easier amidst the gravity of the situation,” it added.

During the lockdown period, Sotto said the community kitchen prepares over 10,000 meals a day which will then be delivered to frontliners assigned at health centers, hospitals, and checkpoints in Pasig.

“Ngayong GCQ (general community quarantine) nasa 6 na libo pataas pa rin (Now that we are under GCQ, they still prepare over 6,000 meals),” he added.

Sotto said the kitchen staff were about to sleep at around 8 p.m. when he visited them.

“Pero 3 a.m. kasi ang call time nila sa kitchen para di ma-late ang almusal (However, their call time at the kitchen is 3 a.m. so that the breakfast will not be late).”

Aside from the community kitchen staff, Sotto has also visited Pasig’s healthcare frontliners.

“Meron din tayong transportasyon/shuttle para sa kanila papunta at pabalik ng ospital para bawas gastos at bawas stress (We also have shuttle service for them to and from the hospital to reduce their expenses and stress),” the mayor said.
