Baliuag tightens border control for two weeks


BALIUAG, Bulacan – To ensure that all visits to this town have a purpose and allowed by the authorities, an intensified border control will be implemented for two weeks starting Monday, September 7 until the end of the month.

Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella said the intensified border control is aimed to protect the residents from possible coronavirus disease (COVID-19) carriers and lower virus cases in the municipality most of whom have travel history from nearby towns and provinces including National Capital Region (NCR).

Estrella said the following boundary roads will be closed: Barangays Hinukay-Candaba, Pampanga; Paitan-Pansumaloc, San Rafael; Piel-San Luis, Pampanga; Barangka-Paco, San Rafael; Munsayac corner Torres streets; Daang Bakal to Ulingao, San Rafale; A. Mabini street to Tambubong, San Rafael; Bridge along the boundary of Sabang-Tambubong bypass road to Matang-Tubig and Tarcan.

Checkpoints will be put up in the villages of  Tilapayong, Calantipay, Pinagbarilan, Tarcan, Makinabang, Concepcion, Tibag and Sabang.

Estrella appealed for the cooperation of everyone for their safety.  Authorized persons working in the National Capital Region (NCR) were advised to stay near their workplaces or work from home so they won’t need to leave Baliwag. 

As of September 5, the Provincial Health Office in Bulacan reported 71 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total to 3,091 cases with 1,623 recovered patients and 77 deaths.
