The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Sunday it is fasttracking the construction of a 72-bed capacity COVID-19 quarantine facility at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.
According to Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar, the conversion of 18 container vans into a 72-unit room isolation facility is ongoing as part of the 23 additional facilities being built by the DPWH to augment COVID-19 bed capacity in Metro Manila.
“As of now, 15 container vans were delivered on site and we have accomplished 45 percent of the project,” he said.
Aside from the quarantine facility at Villamor Airbase, the DPWH is also rushing the completion of two other facilities in Pasay City.
The DPWH National Capital Region is converting 40 container vans into a 160-unit room quarantine facility near WMall on Macapagal Ave. in Pasay City and is now “75 percent complete.”
Another project which will have 276 cubicles and five nursing stations is also ongoing at the Folk Arts Theater in Pasay. “The project is now at 65 percent accomplishment rate,” said DPWH.
The DPWH had earlier completed the Pasay City Sports Complex Quarantine Facility which has 62 cubicles, a nursing station, a working area, and an X-ray room.
“These additional quarantine facilities are just few of the projects under Phase 1. Construction of five more with 456 cubicles, two nursing stations, two working areas, and 2 X-ray rooms in Pasay City will be under Phase 2 and 3,” said Villar.
