DAVAO CITY - The city government of Isabela in Basilan has placed two puroks in Barangay Diki under localized enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) after 12 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded on August 22.

The city government said, as of 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, Isabela City recorded 14 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 12 of these were from Purok 2 and Purok 3 of Barangay Diki.
All confirmed COVID-19 positive individuals were asymptomatic and in stable condition, and were brought to the Isabela City Isolation Facility Saturday night.
In a statement on Sunday, the city government said Purok 2 and Purok 3 was placed under localized ECQ based on an executive order issued by Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman.
“The ECQ shall be in place from August 23 to September 7, a total of 15 days wherein all residents shall not be allowed to leave their respective homes,” it said.
It added that “nine contact tracing teams under the City Health Office will comb (through) these locked down areas to seek out individuals who may have had close contacts with the COVID-19 patients, to trace, test, isolate and treat them and help them back to full recovery.”
Restriction of movement will also be implemented and no person is allowed entry or exit in the said areas except for medical and emergency services,
The residents from other areas were also advised to avoid these puroks which are now declared as “Critical Zones until the localized ECQ has been lifted.”
Meanwhile, relief assistance was distributed to 300 households on Sunday. The city government said the assistance distributed include 300 sacks of 10 kilos rice and 5,000 cans of sardines.
As of Sunday, Isabela City has recorded 101 confirmed cases, 42 of which are still active cases. The city has also recorded 58 recoveries and one death.
