K-pop girl group f(x) member Krystal Jung, sister of former Girls’ Generation member Jessica, will be leaving SM Entertainment.

An exclusive report by Korean news site Ilgan Sports on Aug. 18 stated that Krystal, 25, will be parting ways with the agency which became her home for more than 10 years.

Krystal debuted in f(x) in September 2009 and her exclusive contract with SM Entertainment will expire at the end of August.

The report added that Krystal is scouting for a new agency and has made several contacts with actor management companies in South Korea. There were meetings held but no company has progressed to signing her up.

Krystal is reportedly looking for a company that can focus on her acting as well as support her when she decides to release an album. With this, the report added, Krystal will join other f(x) members who have left SM Entertainment except for Victoria.

Amber and Luna left the agency in September 2019. Sulli left f(x) in 2015 to pursue an acting career. She was found dead in her home in Seongnam City, South Korea on Oct. 14, 2019. She was 25.

After the report came out, SM Entertainment told Korean media that Krystal’s exclusive contract will end this month and it is continuing to discuss contract renewal with her.

Her sister Jessica announced on Sept. 30, 2014 that she was no longer a member of Girls’ Generation after being told by SM Entertainment. Jessica and SM Entertainment amicably ended their contract in August 2015.
