In a video message, Belmonte said, “like what President Quezon said, we should act like a Molave Tree that is strong and sturdy (matatag at matibay).”

“Ngayong araw, ating pinagdiriwang ang anibersaryo ng kapanganakan ng ama ng ating lungsod (Today, we celebrate the birthday anniversary of the city’s Father),” she said.

“Sa panahon na marami ang nangangamba, natatakot at naguguluhan, nawa’y maging lakas natin ang isa’t isa upang patuloy na lumaban at magkaisa (In times of uncertainty, fear and confusion, may we find strength in each other and stand united),” she added

Belmonte told her constituents to believe in each other’s strength as everybody will tide over the crisis we are all facing.

“Naniniwala ako na sa kabila ng hamon, tayo ay magsasama-samang muli upang magdiwang ng ating tagumpay (I believe that despite the challenges, we will be one again to celebrate our success),” she said.

Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto also led a wreath laying ceremony at the Quezon Memorial Circle to pay tribute to the “city’s Father.”

They were joined by Quezon’s relatives and several officials of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
