American actor Jamie Foxx is confident his latest movie “Project Power” will exceed expectations with flying colors foremost because “the chemistry of the cast is good before any special effects.”

In an interview that included Bulletin Entertainment, Jaime said the moment he found out who his co-actors are, he knew things would fall into place.

His co-stars are Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dominique Fishback, Rodrigo Santoro, Colson Baker (MGK), Allen Maldonado, with Amy Landecker, and Courtney B. Vance.

The science fiction presentation is set on the streets of New Orleans, wherein the word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it.

While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie) to fight power with power and risk-taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.

Joseph couldn't agree more with Jamie. He, himself, was hoping before the project was offered to him that he gets to work with people that would make the experience "a lot of fun."

"I took a couple of years off acting because I became a dad,” he said. “When I got back, my first job back was this very intense challenging drama called '7500.' And after doing something so heavy, I wanted to do something fun so when I read the script for 'Project Power,' and then I heard that it was going to be with Jamie and that we will be going to New Orleans, I was like, 'Yes, this is gonna be fun.'"

Rodrigo was "very happy" to join the cast.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

"From the start, I knew that Jamie and Joseph were attached to the movie -- that was a big, big thing for me to be able to work with them, to get to know them,” he said. “I think that's one of the things that I take into consideration when I'm choosing to do something, it's the experience that I'm going to have."

The actor continued: “We never know what's going to be the result of the film. It's always a bat, there's no formula, but I know that, you know, (when) I'm working with the guys like that, it's going to be great.”

Pill talk

Do they think the pills in the story are metaphor?

"A power pill can be dangerous especially with the wrong people -- the people who don't want to use the power for good. So that's a little bit of a metaphor," Jamie said.

He believes that even if anybody can have that power, what matters is how he uses it.

"Do you want to put love into the world or do you want to pop hate and confusion? So it's interesting that we did this movie two years ago, but we weren't foreshadowing if you look at where we are now, you know, the people that are at the top of the power chain. What are they going to use the power for, you know, you're going to use to help humanity or you're going to use it to break humanity in half," Jamie continued.

Joseph thinks it could also be a metaphor for “powerful technology.”

“Technology always has the possibility to harm or the possibility to help,” he said. “I think it's really up to human beings to decide how that technology gets used.”

If they take the pill, what ability do they want to have?

Rodrigo wants to do time-travel. He’s immediately go somewhere in the past then jump forward.

"I would jump to next year, the end of next year---maybe September 2021---just to see what's going on,” he said. “Then I would get back. Let me tell you, I hope it’s good news."

Joseph picked the power of empathy.

"And this is kind of always what we try to do as actors, to put ourselves in someone else's shoes,” he pointed out. “When we play a character that's different from ourselves but take it to the next level and do it as a superpower, that would be incredibly illuminating."

Jamie wants to have power that allows him to spread love.

"I'll start with a number, we'll start singing and then we'll have choreography, everybody dance, and then I'll administer the love,” he said. “And you know what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna give all the love to the world leaders because I don't think they’ve felt love in a while…”

“Project Power” is now on Netflix.
