Ahead of the school opening on Oct. 5, Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday formally launched the instructional videos for teachers, parents, and students to help them in the transition towards distance learning.

Robredo launched her latest initiative on education, dubbed “Bayanihan E-skwela," that features a video series on YouTube and Facebook, during her weekly radio show.
“Iyong target natin before the end of the month of August, mga 20-24 videos na iyong ma-upload natin (Our target before the end of the month of August, we will be able to upload about 20-24 videos),” she said.
“Ang laking bagay iyong videos natin maka-assist sa mga teachers and parents. Later on mag-upload din tayo para sa mga bata. Sana mag-subscribe sila saka sana i-share nila ‘yung link (The videos are a big help to assist the teachers and parents. Later on we would also upload for children. I hope they would subscribe and share the link),” Robredo said.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) partnered with academic experts, film directors, artists, and advertising agencies on the production of these videos.
Three of them -- Dr. Jerome T. Buenviaje, dean of the UP College of Education; Sol Galang of Independent Minds Productions; and Jolina Magdangal-Escueta were guests at Robredo’s radio show.
In a taped interview, Galang said he hoped the videos will be useful to beneficiaries and inspire them to thrive in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Hindi dapat matigil iyong buhay. Hindi kailangan tumigil ’yung pag-aaral ng mga bata. Hindi kailangan tumigil ‘yung development (Life must not stop. There is no need for children to stop in their studies. Development must not stop),” he said.
Three videos have been uploaded to the Bayanihan E-skwela’s Youtube channel that tackle topics ranging from ways on how to make video lessons to project-based learning at home.
The video series was launched after the Department of Education (DepEd) postponed the class opening for school year 2020-2021 from Aug. 24 to Oct. 5.
