The Parañaque City government has partnered with mobile wallet platform PayMaya to provide digital payment solutions to clients as part of its e-governance initiatives under the new normal.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez and top officials of PayMaya on Wednesday (Aug. 12) inked a memorandum of agreement covering a wide range of local government transactions and services.
“We are proud to be pioneering e-government services in the city as part of our strategic initiatives in this community quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic. We want to sustain the momentum in using modern technologies in our processes and services as we adapt to the new digital normal,” Olivarez said.
One of the features of the agreement with PayMaya allows the public to make digital payments for traffic violation fees, real property and business taxes, health, and other local government services.
Lawyer Melanie Soriano-Malaya, chief of the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), said that by using a web browser or mobile-based application, an individual can now conveniently pay for their personal or business transactions without physically going to City Hall.
She added that the city government is continuously improving its various online government programs to provide responsive and customer-focused services while ensuring the continuity of local economic activities by partnering with established financial service providers.
The BPLO chief also said this is an opportune time as “they undertake inclusive and sustainable digital local government as part of their strategy to defeat COVID-19.”
