Japan's top anime studios have teamed up to start a YouTube channel where fans can stream anime for free.
Animelog or Anilog was launched Friday with studios Toei Animation, Kodansha, Nippon Animation, Tezuka Productions, Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, and Shinei Animation providing anime titles for the initiative.
The page aims to post free content for fans to watch with official subtitles so they aren't forced to torrent episodes.
"There exists a problem of illegal video distribution service these days, but 'AnimeLog' will distribute officially-licensed animations and operate as a safe channel that families can enjoy together," digital agency Analyzelog said in a statement.
According to Variety, their goal is to have 30 companies providing 3,000 anime titles by 2020.
The channel currently only caters for locals, but there are plans to add English and Chinese subtitles for overseas viewers.
