ITCZ to bring showers, rain over Vis-Min, some parts of Luzon

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will be dominant weather system that may bring scattered rain showers over Visayas and Mindanao, and some areas in Luzon within 24 hours.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the ITCZ is the converging of trade winds coming from the northern and southern hemispheres that usually causes thunderstorms.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with chances of isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

Based on the PAGASA's extended weather outlook for key areas until Sunday, partly cloudy to at times cloudy with rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Tuguegarao City, Laoag City, Baguio City, Olongapo City, Angeles City, and Lipa City.

Areas that have been affected by the ITCZ will have improved weather by Friday and Saturday.

By Sunday, cloudy skies with rain showers and/or thunderstorms may begin to affect Tacloban City, Cagayan de Oro City, Valencia City, Davao City, and Zamboanga City.

So far three tropical cyclones, namely "Dindo," "Enteng," and "Ferdie," have formed inside the PAR this month.

None of these cyclones have made landfall but induced monsoon rains affecting many areas in the country.
