Face shields are currently in demand in the market as these are being used as an added protection against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), aside from the mandatory face mask.

The DOH, in its department memorandum 2020-0345, also provided “technical specifications” for face shield products. These include: clear plastic or acetate material, provides good visibility, fog resistant, adjustable band to attach firmly around the head, and fits snugly against the forehead.

The other specifications are: full face coverage (completely cover the sides and length of the face), made of robust material that can be easily cleaned and disinfected; and disposable or reusable.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that they conducted a study to determine the prices of face shields in the market.

“Nagpagawa kami ng informal lang naman or local survey, parang study on the market kung magkano talaga yung inoofer na prices among the different big drugstores. Also looking at online na mga bentahan para makita natin range ng prices na meron tayo. ,” she said.
