Unwilling to wait until the Covid-19 pandemic is managed enough to allow London’s theaters to reopen, the Old Vic, a 1,000-seater, not-for-profit producing theater near Waterloo Road in the UK capital, has released its 2015 production of Jekyll & Hyde, Scottish author Robert Louis Stevensons' famous story on our dual nature reimagined as a dance thriller. The dance production, devised, directed, and choreographed by Laurence Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie, is bold and intense, raw and physical, and mesmerizing, a modern and innovative reinterpretation of the 1886 gothic novella entitled Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It’s quite a novelty, even if it stays true to the split-personality core of the classic tale. Featuring the original cast, including Daniel Collins, Tim Hodges, and Rachel Muldoon, it went live on Aug. 5, but you can stream it for free on The Old Vic’s YouTube channel until 2 a.m., on Aug. 13, (Manila time).
