Mayor Joy Belmonte on Tuesday (Aug. 11) announced that the cash assistance for 356,818 of the 377,584 target recipients of the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) SAP has been funded and its distribution is underway.

“Per report from the DSWD, the disbursement of the fund will be made by the national government through GCash," Belmonte said, noting that "this way, intended beneficiaries can get the aid faster via digital payment."

About 217,000 individuals who were initially waitlisted for DSWD's SAP are among the target beneficiaries. Their information has been encoded into the system and they only need to wait for the announcement when to get their cash aid.

For families who are not qualified for DSWD's SAP, Belmonte assured them that they will get P4,000 each through the local government's own initiative.

She said the local government is only waiting for the lifting of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) imposed on Mega Manila before starting the distribution of the city's own cash aid.
