Chalk announced it will cease operations in August 2020, which coincides with the magazine’s 20th anniversary.
In a statement Friday, the digital magazine said it is “heartbroken” to have to “close the curtain for the time being,” due to unfortunate turn of events.
“As you all know by now, the non-renewal of the franchise of ABS-CBN Corporation, our parent company has greatly weighed down on most, if not all of its platforms which includes Chalk,” Chalk team said.
“Prior to the pandemic and all the challenges that followed, August 2020 was supposed to be milestones month that our team had been positively looking forward to, as it would mark Chalk’s 20th anniversary.”
Chalk expressed gratitude to their readers and urged them to “keep moving forward.”
“We are very grateful for the last 20 years that gave us the chance to inspire others by sharing our stories. Now, it’s time for you to tell them and live them,” Chalk said.
Chalk also promised to make a “meaningful l and exciting” last chapter for its readers before it finally closes its pages.
