Baguio posts 5 new COVID-19 cases, one fatality


BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong reported the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases up by five new patients Friday morning.

Magalong said the five new cases included a 43-year-old male from Barangay Salud Mitra, a 74-year-old female from Barangay Queen of Peace, an eight-year-old male from Barangay Queen of Peace, a 29-year-old female from Barangay Gibraltar, and a 25-year-old male from Barangay New Lucban.

He said the new cases were discovered after the latest round of contact tracing were done on other COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the latest fatality was a 65-year old male from Barangay Irisan, whose results came out Tuesday morning.

On Thursday, four COVID-19 cases were recorded. These were a 55-year-old female from Barangay Irisan, a 28-year-old female from Barangay Lower Balacbac, a 15-year-old male from Barangay MRR Queen of Peace, and a 28-year-old female from Barangay San Luis.

As of 12 noon of August 7, 20 barangays were still on lockdown, namely: Kias, MRR Queen of Peace,Pinsao Pilot, Loakan (Ongasan and Pongian),Salud Mitra,San Vicente,St.Joseph Village, Cresencia Village, Upper QM,Pinget,Sto Tomas Proper, Balsigan,Camp 7, Campo Filipino,City Camp Proper,Irisan, San Luis Village,Sto Nino,Pacdal and Engineers Hill.

As of this writing, the city has 82 active cases, 66 recoveries and four deaths.
