“Our hearts are with them, one with Lebanon in spirits and prayers,” CBCP ECMI vice chairman Bishop Ruperto Santos said in an interview.

“We offer our Holy Masses for their strength, recovery and continued faith in God,” he added.

The commission particularly prayed for those who perished due to the incident and the families they left behind.

“It is very sad, tragic news,” said Santos.

“We implore God’s mercy to those 78 who perished especially our two co nationals. God grants them eternal rest,” added the Balanga prelate.

“May those left behind find comfort with God,” Santos said.

He also prayed for the healing of those injured.

“We intercede to God’s power healing and remedy to those who are injured,” said Santos.

The CBCP official asked everyone to be united in helping and assisting those in need during this time.

The explosions that shook Beirut on Tuesday killed at least 78 people and injured thousands.
