1,261 persons receive emergency employment assistance in Agusan del Norte


BUTUAN CITY – The regional office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) based here reported Tuesday that a total of 1,261 individuals in Agusan del Norte province already received emergency employment through the Tulong Pangkabuhayan para sa Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) Workers #BahayKoBarangayKo (# BKBK) and coronavirus disease (COVID-19) intervention program of the agency.

DOLE 13 Regional Director Chona M. Mantila said these beneficiaries came from Butuan City and municipalities of Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR) and Las Nieves, both of Agusan del Norte.

She said 176 beneficiaries were paid in Las Nieves a total amount of P 563,200 for TUPAD #BKBK program, while P 2,982,400 was released for the 932 beneficiaries in Butuan City.

One hundred fifty-three beneficiaries were also paid in RTR the amount of P489,600 for TUPAD Post-COVID19 Intervention Program.

TUPAD #BKBK and Post-COVID-19 intervention programs are initiatives of the government thru DOLE to help the informal sector workers who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic cope with the crisis, the region’s top DOLE 13 official said. 

The workers render 10-day work and are paid the daily minimum wage of P 320, Mantilla said. 

Meanwhile, the DOLE Agusan del Norte provincial office also recently released a total of P622,000 livelihood projects to a displaced “kasambahay” and a senior citizen association in Agusan del Norte thru the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
