A barangay in Caloocan City will be placed under a one-week lockdown starting 12:01 a.m. Saturday (August 1) due to its rising number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

Residents of Barangay 142 will not be allowed to go outside their houses until 11:59 p.m. of Aug. 7 in a bid to contain the spread of the virus after 28 of its residents were discovered positive for COVID-19.

“Katulad ng mga barangay na isinailalim natin sa total lockdown, hindi natin pababayaan ang ating mga residents at sila ay makakatanggap ng relief packs at iba pang pangunahing pangangailangan (Like other barangays that we placed under lockdown, we will not neglect its residents and they will receive relief packs and other necessities from the local government),” Mayor Oca Malapitan assured his constituents.

Malapitan ordered the Caloocan police to ensure that quarantine protocols are being implemented in the area while the city’s health department is tracking down all suspected coronavirus carriers.
