4 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death recorded in Tarlac


CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PNA) – Four new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and one death were reported on Tuesday in the province of Tarlac.

This brought to 79 the total number of COVID-19 cases in the province with 29 active status.

Based on a report of the Tarlac COVID-19 Task Force, the new cases were a 50-year-old and 67-year-old males, both from Barangay Tibag, Tarlac City; a 49-year-old male from Barangay Poblacion South, Ramos town; and 30-year-old male from Barangay Calamay, Moncada.

The 50-year-old patient from Barangay Tibag had no history of travel. He was admitted at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital on July 23 due to fever, cough and colds. He underwent swab test on July 24, but died on July 26 prior to the release of the test result on July 28.

The 67-year-old patient, also from Barangay Tibag, had no travel history, and was admitted at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital on July 23 due to fever, cough and difficulty in breathing. The patient was swabbed on July 24 and the positive result came out on July 28. He is still confined at the hospital.

The 49-year-old patient from Barangay Poblacion South, was a seafarer, who went to Metro Manila on June 18, and stayed there to apply for a job. He was swabbed on July 16 as a prerequisite before going back to work. The positive result came out on July 21, and he was temporarily quarantined in Metro Manila before he was transferred to the Enrique Henry Cojuangco Memorial District Hospital on July 27.

The 30-year-old patient from Barangay Calamay in Moncada is working in Metro Manila. He experienced loss of sense of smell and taste. He underwent swab test in a private hospital in Metro Manila on July 24. He arrived in Tarlac on July 26, the day his swab test result came out positive. He is admitted at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital.

The Tarlac COVID-19 Task Force said the number of deaths is now 11, while the number of recoveries is 39.
