PCG-Negros Occidental head Cmdr. Jansen Benjamin said that some fishermen found the dolphin at the shallow portion of the Maricalum bay.

It had an open wound at the mid-abdominal portion or dorsal part of its body, he said.

Benjamin said that the mammal was turned over to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office for proper disposition.

It was then released back to the sea as it was observed that it could still swim into the deep part of the water, he added.

He said that, sometimes, there were dolphin sightings at the Maricalum bay because of its clear water.
