Ria Atayde is doing her job as celebrity ambassador of international child rights organization Save the Children Philippines.

The actress helped launch its latest campaign “Heroes from Home” which helps raise funds and gives hope to marginalized, and deprived Filipino children who need healthcare, education, and protection amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ria explained that the pandemic has opened up opportunities for people like her to be of help to those in need.

“I signed up to be a hero from home because the children need our support now more than ever as they continue to face challenges in these trying times. Heroes from Home is a simple, easy and practical way we can help children and families during this pandemic. I invite everyone to join me for the sake of children and be a Hero from Home,” Ria said.

The campaign is open to individuals, families, or groups to pledge an amount for a purpose. Save the Children Philippines also encourages people to start their own fundraiser through SimplyGiving.com.

“In this new normal, we can celebrate our birthday in a meaningful and purposeful way. You can share your birthday by asking friends to donate to Save the Children as their gift to you. Not only does it make your special day meaningful, you give hope to needy children and families who need the help the most,” Ria added.

Apart from its current fundraising campaign, Ria shared that their organization has already provided support to 11,000 children and their families by distributing personal protective equipment (PPEs), food items, hygiene kits and information, education, and communication (IEC) materials in areas where they are needed the most.

“There are still so many children who need our love and support and I really hope that everyone can rise up to the challenge and be a Hero from Home,” Ria said.
