If a picture is worth a thousand words, a GIF is worth a million
Instant messaging applications have allowed people to keep in touch with people far away. Nowadays, they allow us to keep in touch with people who are close by but closed off, at least in the meantime.
Along with text lingo, there are hundreds of emojis and, of course, thousands of GIFs to choose from. These looping images are sent as reactions, conversation starters, or just pieces of entertaining content.
Now, Viber’s new feature lets you turn your own expressions into GIFs for any conversation you might find yourself in.
Turning a video into a new GIF only takes three steps.
First, trim the video to select the perfect part to star in the GIF. Second, choose a play mode for the GIF. The choices include boomerang for endless looping, as well as reverse mode, slow-play, and fast-play. Third, style the new GIF with text in various fonts and colors, as well as doodles or stickers.
“Especially during these times, Viber is committed to empowering users to express themselves in various ways as they communicate over instant messages,” says Ofir Eyal, COO of Rakuten Viber. “As we like to say at Viber, if an emoji is used to replace a word, GIFs and stickers can replace an entire sentence. Now, with our custom GIFs, users can express themselves more accurately and do it in a more fun and funny way.”
Whenever you’re at a loss for words, or just want to record your facial reactions for friends, just make a GIF with Viber. This game-changing feature is now available on iOS for all Viber users. Viber will be adding Android support in the following weeks.
