P5-million marijuana bricks found at botanical park in Isabela


ISABELA – A Sangguniang Bayan member and his companions were able to discover two sacks of marijuana bricks valued at P5.4 million at the Botanical Park in Barangay Santos, Quezon this province.

Police Regional Office 1 Director Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves said, in a press conference, that, at around 8 a.m. Monday, July 20,  Sangguniang Bayan Member Armando Lacambra reported to the police the discovery of the contraband.

According to Nieves, Lacambra and his companions went jogging on Quezon Boulevard at the Botanical Park when they noticed two sacks stashed along the path.

Lacambra did not think twice in reporting the abandoned sacks, which turned out to contain, 42 bricks of marijuana, weighing one kilo each. It had a total estimated value of P5.04 million.

The inventory of the recovered contraband was witnessed by a media representative and SB Candido Andumang and SB Randy Hipolito, and barangay officials.

After the discovery of the bricks, Isabela Provincial Police Director Col. James Cipriano, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Quirino agents conducted an on-site inspection.
