After setting Guinness and YouTube world records, K-pop girl group BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” achieved another feat by placing first on an album chart in South Korea.
“How You Like That” was released as a single on June 26. On July 17, it was released as a Special Edition album and debuted on top of Hanteo Chart.
According to Hanteo Chart, “How You Like That” sold 155,844 copies on July 17 to clinch first place, already surpassing the first-week sales of their 2019 album “Kill This Love,” which tallied 146,094 copies. “Kill This Love” sold 78,275 copies on the first day of release last year.
On the same day, the music video for the song reached 300 million views on YouTube since its release on June 26.
Last month, YouTube told Bulletin Entertainment that “How You Like That” emerged as the new No. 1 most viewed music video in the first 24 hours of release with 86.3 million views and it also set an all-time record for the biggest YouTube Premiere with 1.66 million peak concurrent viewers.
As a result, Guinness World Records announced that BLACKPINK set five new records: most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours, most viewed music video on YouTube in 24 hours, most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group, most viewers for the premiere of a video on YouTube and most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube.
“How You Like That” debuted at No. 33 on Billboard Hot 100 and is currently at No. 91 on the chart. It peaked at No. 20 on United Kingdom’s Official Charts and placed No. 44 and No. 57 in the succeeding weeks. The song also topped iTunes in 64 countries, according to YG Entertainment.
It achieved “perfect all-kill” status on Korean music charts when it topped the real-time, daily and weekly charts. BLACKPINK have won a total of eight trophies on Korean TV music shows for “How You Like That” to date.
