This, as CBCP president and Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles is still recuperating from a mild stroke.

“He asked me to take over as acting CBCP President while he’s recuperating,” David said in an interview Friday.

“He had a mild stroke but it was aggravated by a hospital-acquired pneumonia,” he added.

David, vice president of the CBCP, said Valles has been discharged from the hospital.

“He is recuperating well in his residence,” said David.

Valles and David were reelected to their posts during the CBCP Plenary Assembly in July 2019.

They started their second term as president and vice president of the CBCP on Dec. 1, 2019.

They will serve from Dec. 1, 2019 to November 30, 2021.
