Four policemen who spelled out the true meaning of ‘bayanihan’ at the time of the coronavirus pandemic have been awarded for their good deeds during the visit of national police chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa in Western Visayas on Wednesday.

Police Chief Master Sgt. Dulcinea B Bacinillo was awarded with PNP Medalya ng Papuri for making numerous improvised face masks and distributed them to various police and medical frontliners in Iloilo.

The same award was given to Police Staff Sgt. Julleben Niniel for carrying on his back a senior citizen to a covered court in Negros Occidental where the distribution of assistance was taking place.

Patrolmen Von John Ray E. Moralda and Raul B. Lopez were also awarded with the PNP Medalya ng Papuri for helping a senior citizen who needed medical assistance in Bacolod City.

Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, director of the Western Visayas regional police, said all the good deeds of the four policemen went viral and became one of the sources of pride of the regional police office.

Pamuspusan said also included in the same award were Police Lt. Nelson Caro and Patrolman Karl Francis R Boston for arresting a policeman who tried to smuggle a number of bottles of wine at a checkpoint despite the implementation of the liquor ban.

Gamboa, for his part, said that the good deeds of the six policemen is but a proof that almost all of the PNP personnel stick to their mandate of serving and protecting the people, but whose goods deeds were supplanted by the illegal acts of the few.

Other awardees include Police Colonels Julio T. Gustilo Jr and Kenneth Lucas for their Bayanihan Project in Capiz and Bayanihan Kiosk in Iloilo, Police Lieutenant Colonel Victorino E. Romanillos Jr. for PRO6 Bayanihan sa Kampo Delgado, and Police Captain Peter John D. Pisueña for the most number of beneficiaries for Bayanihan Project in Jamindan, Capiz. They were awarded with Medalya ng Kasanayan.

Police Lt. Col. Roberto R Masueto and PSSG Angelo M. Abong were awarded with Medalya ng Kagalingan for the arrest of a top communist rebel leader and Police Capt. Larnel F Frial and PSSG Stephen B Tubal for arresting a notorious fugitive.
