"In line with our continuous effort, this city government will literally confront land ownership and property ownership," Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said.

"We want to put an end to it and create more housing, an honest to goodness new era of in-city vertical housing," he added.

The city government earlier broke ground for Tondominiums 1 and 2 and will soon break ground for Binondominium.

The Manila mayor said they have initially identified ten new sites for in-city vertical housing projects for informal settlers and Manila City Hall employees.

This is in line with Domagoso's "Land for the Landless" project and the "#BuildBuildManila" program.

"I don't want to lose time. We've lost so much time already for the City of Manila," Domagoso said.

Construction works in the city only resumed recently after it was suspended amid the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) crisis.
