Marcos urged unified government initiatives towards maintaining peace and order in Region 1, particularly in the campaign against illegal drugs and insurgency.

“We need a whole government approach; I call on, even more, authorities. Hindi lang naman army at police ang concerned sa insurrection and insurgencies, and illegal drugs campaign; dapat hanggang sa pinakamaliit na barangay, dapat talagang tumulong ang lahat,” she said.

On March 22, Governor Marcos presided the first quarter RPOC meeting held at Plaza Del Norte Convention Center in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

She was joined by outgoing RPOC Chairperson, Mayor Belen T. Fernandez of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Director James F. Fadrilan of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) of Region 1, and officials from the Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other government agencies.

According to Mayor Fernandez, the RPOC serves as a joint effort in addressing security issues affecting growth and development of the entire region, particularly anti-illegal drug and rehabilitation efforts as initiated by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
