The CA had previously suspended the approval of Yasay's ad interim appointment due to the issues concerning his citizenship.

There were reports stating that the cabinet secretary acquired American citizenship, which Yasay debunked in past interviews and during Wednesday's Senate confirmation hearing.

"I did not lose my status as a Filipino because I did not validly acquire US citizenship," Yasay told the CA, asserting that he is a Filipino citizen.
