CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna - The president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in Ibaan, Batangas was shot dead while inside his vehicle in Barangay Poblacion, Ibaan, Batangas, Friday afternoon, according to the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO4A) here.
The victim was identified as Senon Portugal, ABC president of Ibaan, and ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Bayan.
The police report said Portugal was in his sports utility vehicle Friday, at around 3 p.m., when he was shot from close range by an unidentified gunman who was on a motorcycle.
The victim was rushed to the Queen Mary Hospital, but died before reaching the hospital.
The suspect fled on his motorcycle, and is now the target of a police manhunt operation.
Police have not yet determined the possible motive for the killing.
