TD Odette intensifies

Tropical depression 'Odette' has slightly intensified as it moves westward over the Philippine Sea, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Friday.

As of 5 a.m. today, the state weather bureau placed the following areas under tropical cyclone warning signal number 1:

Cagayan including Babuyan group of Islands
Isabela
Apayao
Abra
Kalinga
Mountain Province
Ifugao

‘Odette’ was last spotted at 730 km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts reaching 65 kph, and would bring moderate to heavy rains within its 350-km diameter. It moves at 26 kph in a west direction.

Odette will bring rains with gusty winds in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Abra, Kalinga, Apayao and Mountain Province.

Meanwhile, Ilocos region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative region will be showered with moderate to heavy rains.

Light to moderate rains with thunderstorms will prevail over Visayas, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Mindanao, on the other hand, will experience isolated rain showers.
