P10-M farm equipment aid to Leyte farmer’s association

Tacloban City, Leyte – This province has extended farm equipment assistance to the barangay farmer’s association in Merida town, a report from the provincial capital said here over the weekend.

Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla who led the ribbon-cutting during the turnover ceremony over the weekend, said the farm equipment, costing P10 million, consist of mechanical corn sheller, 4-wheel drive 90-horsepower farm tractor, corn planter, fertilizer applicator and two multifunction tiller/cultivators.
Petilla said the equipment would be used by members of the Mat-e Farmers Association in Barangay Mat-e, Merida, Leyte, .
The governor told reporters that the turnover of the farm equipment coincided with the graduation exercises of the 28 farmers who are members of Mat-e Farmers Association.
The farmers completed their season-long training on corn production and pest management at the Farmers’ Field School in Barangay Mat-e .
Petilla distributed the certificates of training to the graduates for having completed the “More Income in the Countryside” program of the provincial government from March 7 to June 23.
