Female OFW from Saudi is 6th COVID-19 case in Mati City


DAVAO CITY - A 39-year-old woman, who worked in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, became the sixth confirmed case of a person positive for coronavirus disease in Mati City, Davao Oriental.

In a statement on Monday afternoon, the local government unit of Mati said the patient, identified as CM-6, arrived in the country on June 16.

“She underwent the mandatory quarantine before being allowed to return home,” the city government said.

The patient arrived here on July 3, and stayed overnight at a hotel in the city.

The city government added that the patient was fetched from Davao City on July 4, and “was immediately tested and isolated at the Alternate Care Site.”

 “On July 5, the patient was referred to the Davao Regional Medical Center due to internal bleeding. The result of her RT-PCR swab test came out positive today,” it added.

 The patient was also reported to have no known close contacts in the local community as she was isolated upon her arrival in Mati City.

The provincial government of Davao Oriental said contact tracing was being conducted.

At present, the provincial government of Davao Oriental said it has 15 active cases of COVID-19 and has recorded 18 recoveries.
