Ospital ng Biñan's operating, delivery room services suspended after nurse contracts COVID-19

Ospital Ng Biñan (ONB) announced on Monday (July 6) that it will temporarily cease their operating room (OR) and delivery room (DR) services after one of their staff nurses tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

As part of its measures to contain the spread of the virus, the hospital will not admit possible surgical and obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) patients in the meantime.

"We will intensify our level of precaution and expect more stringent safety operational guidelines," ONB Medical Director Dr. Melbril Alonte said in a statement addressed to the people of the City of Biñan.

"Rest assured that ONB OR / DR service will REEMERGE stronger and better once the issue is properly addressed."

Except for procedures that need operating and delivery room facilities, the hospital will continue to provide other medical services.

Meanwhile, the city government continues to implement strict measures to help curb the spread of the virus now that the number of its confirmed cases has breached the 200-mark.

As of July 5, the city has recorded 215 COVID-19 cases, with 77 recoveries and 14 deaths.
