Pabillo made an appeal to the members of Congress, stating that the lawmakers should set aside political agenda and affiliations regarding the issue.
Pabillo believes having ABS-CBN on air would greatly contribute to the nation’s battle against the dreaded COVID-19.
“The public needs reliable and up-to-date information at a time of pandemic as well as entertainment as they stay indoors during the community quarantine,” Pabillo said over Church-run Radio Veritas.
The prelate is hopeful members of Congress would consider the common good in reviewing ABS-CBN’s bid for renewal and not use their power to control the media.
“I am urging Congress who shall be holding the 12th House hearing on the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN today, July 6, that the public must be kept informed and not be deprived of a source of information and developments on the pandemic,” said Pabillo.
