Barangay councilor gunned down in Sampaloc, Manila


A barangay councilor was gunned down by two unidentified armed men inside the barangay hall of Barangay 484 in Sampaloc, Manila Thursday night. 

Police identified the fatality as Antonio Calma, Jr., 43, a resident in the area. 

Investigation showed that Calma, who was also the officer-in-charge, was meeting with other barangay officials at around 10:30 p.m when two armed masked men, wearing hoodies and caps entered the barangay hall and peppered Calma with bullets, killing him instantly. 

The gunmen sped away on board a car, followed by what appears to be a backup SUV vehicle.  Both vehicles did not have license plates. 

Fourteen bullet shells and a deformed bullet slug were retrieved from the crime scene. 

Calma's remains were turned over to Cruz Funeral Homes for autopsy.

Police are investigating the incident.
